Privacy Policy

Rubtek AS (“we”, “us”) operates the Buddy — Travel Companion app (“Buddy”, “the App”).

The Short Version

Buddy does not collect, store, transmit, or have access to any of your personal information. Everything you enter stays on your device. We have no servers, no user database, and no way to see your information.

What We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect any personal information. This includes:

• Names, age, gender, or identifying information
• Medical information (blood type, allergies, conditions, medications)
• Emergency contact details
• Insurance information
• Health tracking (hydration, sleep, mood)
• Financial or budget information
• Diary or journal entries
• Usage analytics or behavioral tracking
• Device identifiers, IP addresses, or advertising IDs

How Your Information Is Stored

All information you enter into Buddy is stored locally on your device using your browser's localStorage. This means:

• Your information never leaves your device
• We cannot see, access, retrieve, or recover your information
• We have no database or servers storing user information
• If you delete the app or lose your device, your information is gone — we cannot recover it

Third-Party Services

Buddy connects to the following external services:

• Open-Meteo — provides weather, UV index, and air quality information. Your selected city name is sent to retrieve local weather. No personal information is transmitted.
• Currency exchange rate API — provides approximate exchange rates. No personal information is transmitted.
• RevenueCat — processes in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat receives only the information required to process your payment through the App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
• GitHub (audio hosting) — phrase audio files are loaded from GitHub. No personal information is transmitted.

We do not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, social media trackers, or any other services that collect personal information.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Buddy offers optional paid subscriptions (monthly, yearly, or lifetime) through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. All payment processing is handled by the respective store and RevenueCat. We do not collect, see, or store your payment information, credit card details, or billing address.

Local Notifications

Buddy may send local notifications (reminders, alerts) on your device if you enable them. These are generated and scheduled entirely on your device — no data is sent to any server.

No Accounts Required

Buddy does not require registration, login, or any credentials. There is no account system. Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID or Google account — not to Buddy. If you switch devices, you can restore your subscription through the App Store or Google Play.

Your personal data (settings, diary, emergency info) is stored only on your device. If you delete the app or switch devices without backing up, your data is lost. Buddy offers a backup/export feature in Settings — we recommend using it regularly. We cannot recover lost data.

Children's Privacy

Buddy is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
